Painters assemble: The National Paint Champion to be crowned at Automechanika Birmingham

14 Dec 2022

Automechanika Birmingham has revealed that it will host the National Paint Championships, with the winner being announced in a live ceremony at the show on 7th June 2023.

Paint Championships

With the Championships being completely free to enter, automotive painters will be tasked with designing the most impressive car shell to showcase their classic paint technique, in a bid to be crowned National Paint Champion.

The designs will be on display during the course of the show from 6th – 8th June, and a professional jury will decide on their favourite design live on stage at the show.

And there’s more, as the general public is invited to vote for their favourite motif, as participants go head-to-head to battle it out for the People's Choice Award.

Announced at the bodyshop Awards 2023, hosted by bodyshop magazine on 12th October, the Championships are set to be highly competitive, with the most experienced painters looking to take on the exciting challenge to put their work on the map and showcase their skills.

All participants must submit a design in line with the theme of ‘Mobility Royale,’ and Automechanika Birmingham is encouraging those interested to enter and get their creative juices flowing to be in with a chance of coming up with the winning design.

Alex Jones, marketing director of Messe Frankfurt UK, organisers of Automechanika Birmingham, said: “Bodyshop professionals are a key part of the automotive industry and it’s great to be hosting what’s set to be a fun-filled and highly anticipated Championships at Automechanika Birmingham.

“This is such an exciting project to be part of and we can’t wait to see the creative designs that participants will produce. The Championships not only provide them with the perfect opportunity to showcase the fabulous work these professional painters do day in, day out, but it also enables us to celebrate their talents to the wider aftermarket.”

The design must be executed to the highest standards but not exceed 50 hours in total to produce. The car shell will be exhibited and judged at Automechanika Birmingham from 6 – 8th June 2023.

Entering is simple; all they have to do is click this link and submit their interest via the easy-to-complete form.

When participants enter, they will automatically be included in both categories: The National Paint Champion and the People's Choice.
